Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, according to American standards, in the category of child prodigy. However, for an Irish girl who was surrounded by gifted parents and extended family, these qualities were normal. Maureen entered into this nurturing home on the 17th of August 20, in Ranelagh. She was the daughter of Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer team in Ireland, and also ran the Shamrock Rovers soccer club and a Dublin business. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd daughter from Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was an infant and was extremely proficient in them. Her natural interest and her talent for performing was remarkable. It was evident that she was the winner of every Feis for drama and theater which Ireland could provide. When she was 14, she had been accepted into the Abbey Theater, where her dream was to pursue operatic singing and classical theater.
